Most sites can be accessed easily from the wharf area, so that is a good place to start. A walk in the wharf area of San Francisco provides the opportunity to view Alcatraz, the Cable Cars, and a chance to eat at one of many fine seafood establishments. Good shopping at Pier 39 and and even the chance to have your pictures taken with a walrus.
